About the artist
My work as an artist is built upon the foundation of a precious gift given to me by my Mom and Grandfather. This gift was the cultivation of love for all the myriad wonders of the natural world. Time spent immersed in the outdoors sparked a passion for observation that, combined with my curiosity and determination, set me upon my artistic journey at a young age. Whether in school or at home, I found ways to spend as much time making art as possible.
I grew my skills with 5 years of atelier style study in classical realism at the Schuler School of Fine Art in Baltimore, MD. Focusing on the techniques of the Old Masters, I studied drawing, sculpture, watercolor, oils, and anatomy. I promptly realized my attraction to the mercurial nature of watercolor. The in-depth instruction at Schuler provided me the freedom to pursue a variety of projects, including many outside the realms of classical art.
Now living in Greenville, SC my work has evolved as a representation of my passions. Moving beyond my training, it has become larger, more vibrant and more detailed as I intentionally push my own boundaries. I have expanded my knowledge of the natural world through gardening, research and fostering community relationships.
